Yasaka Battle Balsa - Chinese Penhold
BATTLE BALSA from Yasaka is a new blade produced in the famous blade factory in Tranas, Sweden.
Several players appreciate blades including the balsa material, because of the low weight, but also because of the special feel in the ball touch. However, some players find traditional balsa-blades too slow.
In the BATTLE BALSA Yasaka has combined the best balsa-quality with Scandinavian pine to produce a faster blade, but still with a low weight. The special feeling of a “self playing blade” is of course still there.

I love light blades. Im using butterfly Maze performance and being a Yasaka fan, I was looking a Yasaka alternative for that blade. I love blocking and this blade needs effort to block. I just couldn't do passive Blocking with this blade and I got a little bit frustrated because of that. you need to actually counter attack so the ball can pass the net. I must admit the other aspects if it are GREAT ! the speed is OK, not rocket speed but not turtle speed either. lightweight ! so its easy to do transcitions from FH to BH and viceversa. And the best aspect of this blade is of course, the FEEL. So smooth on the touch. Overall, great blade for beginners and players entering intermediate.

I use the penhold version. Blade is very light. Adequate power for playing close to the table. However, I have trouble lifting heavy underspin with a counter top spin loop (the ball misses the table) probably because of the lower dwell time of balsa at higher speed.

For a balsa blade, this has very good loop drive and counter-loop speed. No slow-down. Mid-hard rubbers on this blade all the way. If you like Chinese rubbers consider boosting to help develop speed, later on you can build the muscles to put the extra power without the booster. Euro rubbers like Rakza7 work really well. Yasaka Battle Balsa is a blade weaponised for battle :-D Dwell time is like a typical Balsa blade great touch and superb acceleration when you need it.

Been using lots of bats but Always going back to this One. Balsa is special. Either you like it or not. I Love THE feeling when hitting THE ball. THE control is fenomenal. Can put THE ball where i want. Using Neo hurricane in forehand and tg 05 in backhand and for me its a really Good combination. My gamestyle is tactical with occational speedy attacks variating with a controllable game and this Blade is not that slow att all. With hard tensor it Can be really fast. I like Neo on fh, lots of spinning and Speed with THE right movement. Tg 05 in bh, speedy with lots of spin. Also using, among others, yasaka Sweden extra which also is a lovely blade but My heart always fall back to THE battle balsa.
