Wang Liqin is Swedish Open Champion
Zhang Yining wins Women's Singles

Malmö, Sweden, 23 November 2003. CHEN Qi (CHN) on Sunday played his second Pro Tour singles final but he still has to wait for his first title. In the Swedish Open final in the Men’s Singles he lost 4-2 to his compatriot WANG Liqin.
CHEN Qi started out like a lion winning the first two games. However CHEN knows like everybody else that WANG Liqin is a slow starter, and from the 3rd game WANG came out more “ready”.
He slowly took the control of the match and levelled to 2-2. In a crucial 5th game CHEN had his chances but he lost 10-12, and that put WANG on the road to his second title in November. CHEN started making more mistakes and WANG took the 6th game 11-7 to become the Swedish Open Champion 2003.
After the Men’s World Cup in October, everybody called Chinese MA Lin for the best player in the World, but since then WANG has taken the titles in Germany and Sweden.
19 year old CHEN Qi is already a star though he played his first Pro Tour event ever in September in Korea. He is no. 16 on the World Ranking – but compared to WANG Liqin he still has some steps to take – having troubles with keeping a high level throughout the entire match.
