Hi all, im new to the site and new to TT, but getting better every time i play. my question is regarding equipment.

Ive ordered, and hopefully settled on the Donic Opticon (not RS) after playing with:
a 729 6040 w/ super FX EL 2.2--older i think, but seemed like a good deal at the time-dont like the hard feel
a BTY Kenny Pro w/ Geospin Tacky 2.2-- which feels great, but the head is too compact
a Yaping with Geospin Tacky 2.2--All which feels great (soft) but seems slow.

i realize that the Opticon may be a little much for me at this stage, but am i right in thinking i can grow into it by controlling the spin and speed with more suitable rubbers? i figured if its too fast or not enough control i can alter the play of this blade until i have even better mastered the strokes (which are pretty sound, just inconsistent)? i just dont want to try learning this game and fighting inferior equip at the same time.
