the beauty of spin is in its variety of shots. how fast you can get in ready position after hitting spin is dependant to how fast your bat is. with slower bat you must use more forward motion and it's much harder to get back to ready position. this is why top players depend on fast materials-you get speed without much motion and you can always easily be ready for next shot. however, if your bat is slower, make sure that your ball is not the one that can easily be returned: - practice slower and shorter low-arc spins-this one can be ideal to open the point against certain players if you cannot attack the ball full-strength - practice watching the opponent and his bat during the point at the moment before you hit the ball. by his position you can determine the best place for hitting the ball - remember that best places for hitting the ball are away from opponents arm reach and in his body (elbow) - avoid spining the ball at opponents stronger side as much as you can but put few bals there when he least expects it - practice FAST spins (rips)with very low bounce-this one is hardest to block. good rubber/blade combination works miracle in lowering the bounce |
