Bryce either regular or FX will play fine unglued--especially if you are thinking of FX as a backhand rubber. If so, FX will work well, not quite as zippy as when glued, but probably not worth the trouble unless you have a powerful backhand loop. To me glue is essential to put extra zing on loops.
