Long pips are much like any other smooth rubber, they also require to be clean every other day of playing. I have yet to find any makers of LP's that recommends it, it could very well be the reason for not telling us about it, is because if it breaks (the sooner the better)the more likely you would place an order for a replacement. Take my advice, use water and soft brush to get in between the pimples and dry with a soft clothe immediately. You will find that this trick will work and eventually get more out of your LP in the long run. Take care.
