I've tried the S40 in max. The topsheet is fairly tacky but very thin. It almost feels like you're playing with pure sticky sponge. You'll get a glob of topspin on loops, but in my opinion it's hard to control a rubber that thick and soft when glued in the short game (pushes, drops, etc.) I also had trouble flat hitting with it as it is so soft and thick. It's fast on the flat hits, but it's easy to let the ball get away sideways. Feels like you're hitting with a pillow. If you win your points almost always with heavy but controlled topspin, this rubber is as good as any. Probably along with markV 30. SG is designed for speed glue only. I'm not sure how it differs from S40, but I would imagine not much. Right now I'm using 729 40S, which is the same donic sponge but thinner with a thicker sticky topsheet. |
