PF4-1 is a good defensive rubber, I've used 1.6mm and 2.0mm. It's also avail if you can find it in 1.8. The 1.6 is really nice for backhands, and the rubber at 1.6 is light enough. However for a forehand at 1.6 mm is probably not a desirable slow looping surface such as say 1.7 mm butterfly tackiness chop. (slower and the ball has less lift and may leave the bat straight to the net) I prefer the 1.7 tackiness C for pushing. For chopping the 1.6 dhs pf4-1 seems at as good. I have not used the 2.0 much but at say $10 per sheet it can't be too bad except for the weight - so to power it up a little, maybe 1.8mm dhs pf4-1 on a fast blade would be acceptable as a really nice and affordable forehand spinny control rubber. I'm using one ply hinoki shakehand blades. |
