if its a short downard spin,by all means chop it,if the spin is so strong that a closed chop will not bring it over the net,then push it over,catching it off the bounce to give him less reaction time(only if your confident about timing when you pluck it off the table).If the serve is long however,dont give him a chance loop it with all ur might(or however much might you need to take it over the net),smashing it over the net against underspin is not common in a mens game these days,so only do so if your confident it will go over,but thats more common in a womans game :),one thing you want to avoid,NOT READING HIS RACKET!!Make sure you know exactly wat spin hes going to place,and try to memorize his movements to tell the difference in spin and speed and direction its going to head down,usually for me it would take one look at the serve and the spin and motion become memmorized,even if you have to throw away a point,make sure you remember where the contact point of the ball is and what angle its going at and amount of speed hes swinging the racket at. |
