woops,misread my bad.You said TOPSPIN,i misread saying backspin,dont ask me why,i need glasses.Well the basics are practice,pratice,practice.U cant really avoid usin ur backhand,i love the top spin serves to me,u can either use a fast backhand block to the opposite corner or step back alittle more and wack it!I dont think that sean would say to lower the racket on topspin serves,i think u mighta misread that too as backspin.Lowering the racket allows u to "lift" up the ball as u spin it upwards,but for fast topspin u should concentrate on reaction and reading the opponents racket to give u alittle more time to attack.
