The cream jap sponge is very soft. It glues up to be ultra spinny but it's never going to be lightning fast.

The 40s is hard to say. There's all kind of hardnesses floating out there. The 35deg is pretty soft and hard to push with but great for looping. The 40 is pretty nice. There is some floating out there with 45 too, and that's very fast with little control.

Lately it's been made with 40, and that's pretty nice. Better touch at the table than the "faster" german version. Only problem is the weight. Don't know why something with a german sponge should be so heavy. But then, so is the "faster."

Personally, I prefer the geospin to any of the above.
