The following message (subject: Two rubbers on penhold blade?) was posted by James, on 11/22/2002 4:37:01 PM:
I've been using a Chinese-style penhold blade with a single rubber for a few years now, but am investigating putting a black rubber on the other side. From what I've seen, this does not appear to be a common option for penhold blades. However, having used shakehand paddles in the past with a penhold grip, extreme circumstances sometimes force me to use the "wrong" side of the paddle for a backhand return. In such cases, I have found that a speedy rubber is preferable to relatively dead wood. I am mostly concerned about making my paddle overly top-heavy. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions. Thanks, James |
