I actually serve topspin even more frequently to pips players. For the most part, they can't loop them back. If I keep them low, they frequently have to take a little off or simply push or chop it back. I like getting long pushes back. Short high ones are better! Although this plan doesn't win many points outright, it generally keeps me in the rally, and usually in charge. Most of the JPH and CPH players I play against are eerily good at punishing short backspin serves with topspin flips. They (the pips players) usually can't can't generate enough topspin to bother me unless I give them backspin. bes |
