Take a ball and drag it across your rubber sheet. If you notice a loss in friction when you cross the middle area where you strike the ball the most, then your topsheet is worn out. Also with some tensioned rubbers the sponge will become dead after a number of months. I play 4 times a week and get about 3 months out of my F2 and a year or more out of my 563 pips.
