Reviews of Stiga Carbonado 45 - Chinese Penhold (8)
My first Stiga blade was Stiga Offensive Classic WRB (oc) . The best feeling blade ever that I have , even better than Yasaka Extra and Yasaka Sweden Extra. I'm just talking about feeling only, OK? Even I have some modern blade , but I miss the feeling of oc , so i pick it up sometimes When I face to some high level player .The attack of mine is so gentle to them . So I've think about to find another blade has the feel like oc and more powerful. First I've try Offensive Classic Carbon. Speed is very good. It is really more powerful than oc , but it is too stiff and the feeling is not that good, and the most important thing is it less spin than oc when using same rubber, it is a very good blade maybe just not fit my style. When i was keep looking for other blade for replace my oc , some say Stiga Carbonado 45 feel like all wood blade. So when I first use 45 , Yes!! The feeling is very good , its very close to oc , but still less spin than oc little bit. The blade is quite flexible and soft so it hold the ball to well when blocking or start looping. Well , i have try so many blade in my left , more than 30 maybe . I can't say Stiga Carbonado 45 as fast as peoples rating like 8.7/10 , maybe 8.2 for me. I can still feel the carbon layer clearly but the control is good. As a penhold player , I would say this is a off- blade , good for control and looping but not good for smashing.
Excellent blade. Popular w/some top Chinese players, and a favorite of Coach Lin. Good choice for those transitioning from wood blades, wanting a larger sweet spot & a little more speed (Off- speed w/great control). Slower than my Butterfly IF Layer ALC, LSW, or Nittaku Acoustic Carbon, but faster than Acoustic.
The speed is just like viscaria. But it has better feeling, those who don't like arylate carbon, but love to spin. Try this and you will know the perfect feeling.
I decided to try this blade 2 weeks before pandemi COVID-19. So, i haven't used it too long, only twice honestly. But, overall this is a good blade for control player with intermediate spinning skill.
Amazing blade! Woody feel, the control is great not too fast. Need to sandpaper the edges, the top ply splinters easily that's why seal it first before you glue a rubber on it. Over all, must try blade!
