A Blade In Celebration Of The 30 Years Of Cooperation Between Timo Boll And Butterfly

Includes a photo book commemorating the history of Timo Boll’s 30 years.

The blade is developed and produced in celebration of the 30 years co-operation between Timo Boll and Butterfly.

A small 11-year-old boy at that time, Butterfly equipment soon became a part of his body; he has experienced hundreds of spectacular achievements. The R&D team in Butterfly has always made the best use of his feedback and requests to develop equipment and has reflected the advice given in new products.

A new technology has been introduced to the celebratory blade. There has been a concern that sweat on the palm affects the delicate touch and feeling of a stroke; normal handles (wood handles) have a relatively smooth surface. In pursuit of a less slippery handle, Butterfly has successfully developed a material dedicated to the blade handle whose friction does not easily fluctuate even when exposed to high levels of sweat. Timo has welcomed this material and has already been using at actual tournaments. The material is named G-Fless; this is where another chapter of history begins.

Note: G-Fless can be easily damaged and deformed if pressed heavily, due to the characteristics of the material. In addition, the texture will change in the course of use.

FAQ: Does Megaspin sell Japan-made Butterfly blades?

Some Butterfly blades like Korbel and Grubba are produced in factories both in Europe and in Japan, so they exist in 2 variants. When a Japanese blade has a Europe-made version, we always carry the Japanese variant. Other blades like Butterfly Timo Boll Offensive are only made in China so we cannot carry a Japanese variant of these blades.

FAQ: Do Butterfly blades come pre-sealed?

All Butterfly blades come pre-sealed from the factory. There is no need to add blade sealing but you may if you require additional protection.

Reviews of Butterfly Timo Boll 30th Anniversary Edition (1)

Should you collect or enjoy this high quality proven Butterfly blade? I was planning to keep this blade sealed but I believe the joy of playing with this blade is was wort it! I played Timo Boll ALC before and I preferred Viscaria over it due to the slightly better compatibility with hard and tacky rubbers. The difference between the two is in the wings of the blade, Timo Boll ALC and the Anniversary blades being narrower at the wings with a more pronounced slope making the blade feeling more flex especially if the rubbers are heavy. This is the reason Viscaria handles better the heavy Chinese rubbers. The Anniversary blade is visibly built with much higher quality wood than any other Viscaria or Timo Boll blade and it feels solid when playing. My main worry was the sponge used on the handle of the new Anniversary blade but after little over one month it holds up just fine, no change of shape or color is noticeable. The feel is pleasant and it has better grip than a wood handle, time will tell if it holds up... In my setup I use a hard hybrid rubber on the forehand and softer tensor on the backhand. My blade is 82 grams and I requested the lowest weight available at the time. Paired with tensor rubbers it will play the best but you can get away with using hybrids on one side. Probably most people will use some combination of Dignics and Tenetgy but other brands play just fine at a lower price point .Was it worth it? Sure it was! Do I regret playing it? Not at all. Playing with this blade will actually make you value it more. In short I would compare this blade to the Golden Viscaria when it comes to it's solid play and scarcity.
