I used a older sheet, Not very spinny and quite doll. Lovely for active blocking heavy topspin. You can make ur opponent quite angry when you show him all the corners of the table.

I see a lot of people say that sriver used to be good but is now out classed and I have to disagree. Well it's not as good as 120$ rubber you certainly get your moneys worth with sriver, it is easily the best affordable rubber out there.

this is rubber is good but only for beginners and intermediate. many years ago I had the chance to play with this rubber both FH and BH on all wood blade Mazunov. this combination doesn't give the best speed or spin but it gives the proper amount of control for a beginner. I don't know if you replaced the blade with a fast carbon one, you will get the speed you want or not but it will give you the amount of control and speed you need if you are a beginner

Another all time classic rubber. Using it as my BH rubber when starting this game.

As an intermediate player, I will not recommend this rubber. I have used this for a while and my experience is not that good. If you are a beginner, I will recommend you buy the tenergy 05 and go from there. I just gave it 3 stars for its price. One of the cheapest in the market.

This is a perfect beginner rubber from butterfly. This is also one of the cheaper butterfly rubbers and is also soft and bouncy which is good for starters or beginners.

Use it on FH only on a little flexible blade but fast blade. New ball will get the heat on the table.

9/10 for OFF style. FH/BH: Butterfly Sriver, 2.1mm, 41g (0.2g/cm^2), 38 degrees (Shore A). Blade: Stiga Rosewood NCT V, 93g, 158mm x 151mm x 6.2mm (Width x Height x Thickness). Plies: 5 (Wood + NCT): Rosewood - Ayous - Ayous - Ayous - Rosewood.

Maybe this was good before i was born, but not a chance today. Worst rubber i have tried yet. Tried Mark V from Yasaka, because someone said it was they two that competed some with eachother. Mark V had much more spin feeling and it had actually hold the line to a certain level even today. When you see the manufactors numbers, you dont buy it:

Speed 10 / 15
Spin 8.0 / 15!)

I use the 1.9 on both sides of my Butterfly Petr Korbel FL.
Nice rubber for beginners. Not too fast, is really focused on control and suited me very well for my training.
If you are an intermediate/experienced player this might not fit well for you, since is too slow for a game.

Great control rubber. Paired with OFF control wood blade you cannot miss a shot. However, it can be slow for intermediate and advanced players. You can probably stick it on a carbon blade to offset. I think this a great rubber for beginner players.

Ratings for 1.9mm. Good pace and gears, but spin leaves a lot to be desired. Great for beginners since control is very high for learning. Rubber is light which can work well for kids.

Way,Way far from the capabilities of that times Tenergy, Im talking Yasaka Mark V here, with a Hans Ahlser blade, that is out now in 3 different version, and can ONLY

Its still a good rubber but in this price range i would say many other rubber plays better than sriver. Sriver is more to control suit for allround style player.

My first rubber, this rubber is good but not to return passive especially when counter backspin, the only best choice is use backhand or forehand topspin. If you use chop or push is so difficult to aim low and most of it will end with lob game. This is good choice for day 1 table tennis lesson, and still good choice when you need faster rubber just boost it . Along with mark v for me if you prefer european style / or hitter, sriver is best for it, but if you like chinese style / brush, i suggest you switch to mark v.

If you loose a lot of points in the competition with fast bouncy Tenergy rubbers, try Sriver and see what it can do for you. It's all about control. Speed and spin can be generate with what you put into it.

My first decent rubber. Used on BH 1.9mm.
I never really liked this rubber since I first glued it on my all wood Primorac.
Feels dead, no consistency on shots, not so much speed or spin and lacks control.
For classic rubbers I very much preffer Yasaka's Mark V - it really is much better in every aspect when compared with Sriver.
Also for such an old and outdated rubber the price is ridiculous. Stay away from this rubber even if you are a new player.

Blade: Yasaka MEO
FH: Globe 999 Nat 39 Deg Black
BH: Sriver 1.9 Red

As I use this rubber for my BH, coming from softer rubber perspective such as Solcion or Sriver FX, I say this rubber is a control monster! I can do opening loop pretty much any spin from opponent. While the speed is not fast enough to finish a good opponent outright, it gives so much control that you can place the ball almost anywhere on the table with reasonable pace. Unlike the soft rubbers which have high catapult feeling, this one is the most linear rubber I have ever used. After I have changed to this rubber for 2 months with almost everyday practicing, I feel that my BH controlled loop is improving to another level that I could beat high level opponent around USATT 1700ish level.

I am a developing player. I usually play intermediate players with an occasional advanced player. There is a good variety of players at my club. Used 2.1 mm sriver on FH and BH. This was my first custom rubber and I wanted something that had a lot of control. I can get good spin on serves with good control. Returning serves are overall pretty good. Going against more advanced players I found it more difficult to return serves but that is probably just my technique. Close to table hitting, this is a very good rubber especially with FH or BH drives. It has many gears to it but at a slow pace you have to put a lot of effort into it to get it over the net. When I drop a ball onto it, the rubber seems dead as the ball doesn't bounce much. This was an adjustment to my previous premade racket. I love using BH flicks against backspin and this rubber is decent at that. Sometimes it is hard to control it but it takes a lot of focus to get it right. FH flicks close to table are same way. I found the throw angle to be medium-low so this is probably the reason for this. Blocking is difficult but this is probably just my technique. Looping away from table is very tricky to stay consistent. This rubber is a beast close to table but away from table it is very hard to control. Overall I am satisfied with this rubber. I am looking to upgrade to something faster but I recommend this rubber to players who are looking for their first custom rubber.

Sponge is harder than Tenergy. Speed is linear so it feels slow, not bouncy like tensors, but if the ball is high enough it's easy to kill. Not enough spin.

Very good beginners rubber (someone who has just got started, is confident at rallying and wants to start looking at flicks and loops ect.) great control, but strong players will find it too slow

Great rubber for ALL with great control. Used it for BH but need to speed up. Good classic!
Review helpful?    Yes | No

Equipped this for my back hand. Has good control, not as springy (not so much speed) but I was still able to generate fast attacks with some top-spin. Good for medium to short range. I used this mainly for short range.

I put this rubber, in max, on FH of Joola Viva blade and didn't really like it, as it seemed to lack the touch and control that I expected. So I replaced it and put it on blade from my buddy's Stiga Ignite premade bat, and it really came to life...to the point I regretted getting rid of it. Good rubber if properly matched, but not quite on part with its number 1 rival, Mark V.

Speed glue rubber... A legend rubber...
Review helpful?    Yes | No

Great all around rubber, excellent control and versatility, no great strengths or weaknesses besides control. Of the all around rubbers to me it has the best ball feel but not quite as much spin and bite as others.
Review helpful?    Yes | No

A very good rubber for players who are starting to develop topspin shots and want to branch out into the world of rubbers. I used this myself at the same stage on my FH and one thing I noticed was the control was very good. The Spin and Speed were nothing special but you could keep the ball on the table consistently. I got it because it was fairly cheap and because of the review of it being the top rubber for many professional players. The are many rubbers that are faster and more spinny however for players starting off you can't go too far wrong with this.

For Championship Play! common choice in the past for beginner's to intermediate levels, a Classic, a Legend!

If compare to mark v mv is much better on all aspects. Time and evolution has ended the reign of these rubbers, although still very good for intermediate players and the likes.

It is a good old rubber with fantastic control. I changed my BH from Yasaka Mark V to Sriver and got immediate result. I was able to block better with it. Recommended for those who want a rubber with good control but also want to open from BH side.

Back in a day, in early 90s when i was starting out this was the rubber to have.

Living in a small town i had no access to any other rubber but this. Sriver was my TT family basically. There was no internet to buy from China :).

For a 4th grader this was as cool as it gonna get in TT. When i would get a new sheet from my parents i thought i was the king of the world!!! Well since we were not the richest family i was king of the world maybe once per year or so :).

Many years have passed since 90s and i dont see myself using Sriver anymore but this rubber still holds special place in my heart.

Pros:
Rubber has no weak areas of play. Solid all around rubber at this time of age.

Cons:
Bizarrely expensive 25$-30$ per sheet for a dinosaur of a rubber.

I would not recommend this rubber to anybody anymore. Many say it is one of the best beginners rubbers but i think there are many better (yasaka Zap Bio, Palio CJ 8000 Bio and so on) for the fraction of the price. I do understand that "new" rubbers like Zap or CJ have better performance then Sriver but so do "new" beginners then beginners in my time.

Have fun playing TT and be happy :).

Fast, consistant and reliable rubber! A must have in BH for off players

This is a very good rubber that has been used by players for ages. It has great spin and speed. I use it 2.1 mm on both sides of my Primorac. Get this rubber, you won't regret it.

Can't go wrong with Sriver! Very versatile and good for practicing.
Review helpful?    Yes | No

A perfect classic for allround players and begginers. Lacks in power for the ban glue era, but their spin, control and quality are still very good. The main problem is the price! You can get a better rubber from XIOM (Vega Pro/Omega4 Pro) or Stiga almost for the same money. If Butterfly put that rubber to 15 bucks I would recomended for a entry rubber for any begginer or Allround Player. If you are a offensive player this rubber dosen't have the power you need.

i definitely hate this rubber. i would choose mark v any day over this. it is so "mute". nothing sticks out as impressive or particular. it is probably perfect for control players of a certain level. i know many pro's used it in the 80's, but i could bet no one really uses it now but for their first assembled raquet.

Butterfly's best selling rubber worldwide after so many years. Medium speed to fast (but not very fast) with good control. This is a very balanced top sheet that reacts well to spin and is best used in countering + blocking and offers good ball feedback due to its medium hard sponge. This rubber may not be the fastest or spinniest by Butterfly standard but IMO it is a balanced rubber for an allround play.
Good for the beginners to intermediate level players. Have this in my back-up paddle as I played penhold.

In my opinion it is a great combination of speed and control without the loss of spin. I use max rubbers both on my fh and bh. I get enough spin on my serve and some great speed on the smash. A legend indeed.
Review helpful?    Yes | No

I have been using this on my backhand for 30 years. Love it.
Review helpful?    Yes | No

This is just a steady control rubber that has the density to put balls away with enough effort. It does not excell at anything but it also does not lack in gears and capabilities either. A safe choice for a steady backhand.

Good rubber. if you like more of a spongy feel go with the EL. this rubber doesn't last very long that's the only bad thing.
Review helpful?    Yes | No

This was my first rubber and its pretty good for start. U can loop easily and with good effect. Actually I use a bryce and I think that the sriver is slower but its more easy too use.

like this rubber, truly an all round rubber. Blocks are amazing, looping on heavy backspin awesome, speed is ok.
Review helpful?    Yes | No

In today's market, Sriver may not be the fastest or spinniest rubber, but may be the most versatile. Great, long lasting, and nowadays "cheap" Japanese rubber, that can do it all. This is the reference by which other rubbers are judged

Love this rubber ! its a classic ! prefer it to any other rubber with a 2 exceptions! only whiles top spinning it goes a bit off but other wise its great !

Don't like this rubber, too fast and unspinny for me.

My chop and block tend to over the table

These are the go-to rubbers of any table tennis player who likes the jap/euro style topsheets. A fairly hard sponge but the dwell time is great on this classic rubber, I had both the L and S versions with the S on my backhand to allow for more spin and control with the L suiting my slightly faster and aggressive forehand. Quite simply the rubbers are amazingly durable, me having had them for years and although I no longer use them they have been through heavy usage and still remain very spinny.

Suitable for any level of play, some of the people who are the best players I know use this rubber as well as some beginners, it offers excellent touch and feel and can allow for a passive style of play, but at the same time it is capable of generating enough spin to end a rally. It isn't the fastest or the most attacking rubber but I often think that there is too much of an obsession on this these days and when I see someone using this rubber to control the pace of the rally before punching a backhand down the line and finishing with a whippy forehand I think that this is the one rubber that seems to have it all.

The best rubber I ever played with speedglue. Great speed and spin without high throw angle. There is not any rubber that can play like glued Sriver, even Tenergy.

in indonesia, it is no.1 serious beginner rubber. i have use a mark v and i'd said that mark v have a better speed but sriver's spin better than mark v's spin
Review helpful?    Yes | No

a truely average work horse. i have played with this over years to develop my techniques. As I advanced from beginner to intermediate, I started looking for new rubber that offers more spin and spin. Check my review on Friendship 729 Cream Transcend which is slightly better than Sriver in most areas at lower prices.

I recently bought sriver (1 mth ago), as my coach recommended them. I find that it is a great rubber that does not need you to adapt to it, it naturally adapts to the user. It gives great control, and the price is very cheap of all the butterfly rubbers yet it has great chracteristics. I am not sure why, but my rubbers rots very easily, i play around 10 hours a week, i guess i may have gotten a bad batch. Well, i still recommend this rubber for any players seeking to learn, improve their stroke, without sacrificing anything to adapt to this rubber, and for allround players which does not mind the rubber to not produce major spins or great speeds, note that the rubber still has relatively high spin and speed.

It is the most popular rubber use here in Brunei Darussalam. Very good performance when use in the FH or the BH. My students won a lot of match here in Brunei with it. Overall it's an excellent rubber if you are looking for a great game. Personally i use it on my BH when coaching my students.

The butterfly sriver is definitely the right choice for allround/counter-attacking players that are looking for speed and power in their game.It is definitely worth every cent and probably one of butterfl's most successful rubbers and definitely the best butterfly counter-attacking/allround rubbers. It is also definitely one of the top 10 counter-attacking/all round rubbers ever.It is proven successful and has brought just too many stars to the top position
Review helpful?    Yes | No

This is a very, very good rubber if you are a beginner and do not have consistency in form, during basic strokes (FH & BH loops, drives, and chops). It is not as expensive as higher-end rubbers (like the Tenergy rubbers) but it is a pretty good rubber for a controlled game. Pair this with the Butterfly Primorac paddle and you have one of the best quality beginner setups you can buy.

A rubber introduced in 1967 and still well liked. Sriver is a classic allround offensive rubber that blocks too. It has decent spin and speed with good control for beginners to advanced players. Sriver forces you to put effort to execute strokes correctly to unleash its power. A decisive forehand rubber. Great value for money rubber that is durable.

A classic that everyone can play with from beginner to professional. Very durable. Today there is lots of faster alternatives. But this is a real do-it-all rubber. Fantastic!

After having played with Flextra, I moved on with Sriver on my backhand. I love the rubber 10 years after I started playing with it. It lasted a long time and became one of my favorites. It is very consistent at every aspect, spin, speed and control. It is a perfect rubber for the intermediate player wanting to move up through the ranks.

If you're a beginner and are moving up to the intermediate level don't hesitate, this rubber is very forgiving and will help you continue your growth. Even though the difference was slightly noticeable when moving away from Flextra, the transition was very smooth. A classic!

Great rubber!!
Don't say that others should change to tenergy cause I proved it I have beaten alot of tenergy users this not only for newbies but a great rubber for newbies to pros
Review helpful?    Yes | No

tenergy is much more powerful and spinny. you should think about changing to tenergy unless you are a beginner. sriver is a great rubber for beginners.
Review helpful?    Yes | No

the sriver is a very good rubber with speed glue but without it, it is terrible. you should tenergy 05.
Review helpful?    Yes | No

A very good rubber for everything you want to do. It is especially good for beginners who are learning new strokes and strategies. Literally does everything you can think of except for chopping. Also a great value for your money. It lasts FOREVER!!

Butterfly's best selling rubber worldwide. Fast with control. Very balanced top sheet that reacts well to spin. This rubber shines in countering and offers good ball feedback due to the 38deg. sponge. Not the fastest or spinniest by Butterfly but the most balanced for allround-offense. Great for all levels of players. Very easy to change the speed and spin so has many gears. An all time great rubber.
Update: Having tried some high performance tensors I tried Sriver MAX on a Donic OFF carbon blade. I am a 1600 level player with hundreds of tournaments under my belt. Don't believe Sriver is outdated..it performs brilliantly. It has very good speed and spin but the main factor is it's outstanding control at high speed exchanges. Loops are like an eagle coming in for the kill. Low throw with lots of spin. My opponents ask if I'm using T05! When I show them my racket they can't believe it. Don't buy high priced tensors unless you are a pro. It's still the number 1 selling rubber in the world for a reason even in this age of tensors or glue effect rubbers. For some that think unglued Sriver is to slow put it on an OFF+ carbon blade and experience a lot of speed with control, something that is lacking in many tensor or glue effect rubbers.

Sriver shares the spotlight with Mark V as being the worlds best selling rubber. Fast, good control, best suited for allround-offense game. Quick counters are great with Sriver. Less affected by your opponents spin due to it's balanced topsheet. Medium hard sponge of 38 deg. For loopers Sriver EL or Sriver FX. Not the fastest or spinniest rubber but still a great choice for a wide range of players from beginner to pro.

i've played with sriver for many months now i got the rubber from tees sport at the start of the northumberland summer league and is still in great condition i currently use this on my f/h with 1.9 mm thickness and it is FANTASTIC i play as a allround player and it is great drives, chops, pushes, serves, smashes and much much more i would suggest this rubber to an allround attacking player. the only thing is though it is not very fast thats why i've bought sriver g2 fx.

I have found a Sriver rubber on one of my old paddles from 20 years ago and it still plays well. Not exactly ideal for my lop and attack game but it may be good for backhand side on my backup paddle. I tested the Tenergy 25 this week. Its a good rubber but way overpriced. I am looking for an alternative.

Good for beginners or mid level. Not for all out looping and attack, too much muscle work. It lasts for ever I have a 20 year old rubber Sriver D13-L Tomasu CO. Tokio and it still spins the ball.
Review helpful?    Yes | No

This is probably one of the better rubbers for beginners. It's not too fast and very controllable. It is a good price too. It lasts pretty long and it certainly worth it for any player who wants to get serious and upgrade from those crappy recreational paddles.

I feel that this rubber is better for countering when unglued/ untuned. A very linear rubber, the amount of speed and spin is proportional to how much you put in. Sponge is medium; low 40's high 30's. Topsheet is non-tacky and has a medium hardness You can loop with it but it takes more effort than say a sheet of Mark V. I've had a sheet on my backhand since January and it still looks good.

it gets really dusty really fast. The top sheet deterioration is killing me!

Very very good rubber. Probably my favorite next to Mark V. My primary blade has Mark V on both sides, but I have Sriver on the backhand side of my back-up blade (which is the same: Boll TriCarbon). Sriver is very very similar to Mark V in most aspects: decent speed, controllable spin, many many gears, and incredible control. On the other hand there are subtle but noticeable differences between the two rubbers. In comparison, Sriver is slightly less tacky. I'm talking about new sheets (with a bit of wear down, they are almost identical in this aspect). Sriver has a very slightly harder topsheet with a comparably soft sponge to Mark V. The one thing that I find Sriver excels Mark V in is its durability. I have a friend that used Sriver waaaaay before I did, and that thing just barely seemed to wear down at all. All in all, I can see why Sriver is the most popular rubber out there. The only thing was, I think the top sheet is just ever so slightly too hard. Mark V seemed to be perfect for me, so maybe I'm just biased LOL

The sriver is a very good and long lasting rubber, when you decide to choose this rubber you can not make any mistake, its alround and when yo usay alround its means that is capable of doing the most important thing with sufficient control.
it is good for blocking, good for hitting and good enough for spinning, every sheet of sriver is good quality, There are faster, spinnier and better control rubbers but sriver wil always be a good choise for anyone

In today's market, Sriver may not be the fastest or spinniest rubber, but may be the most versatile. Great, long lasting, and nowadays "cheap" Japanese rubber, that can do it all. This is the reference by which other rubbers are judged.

I'm using Sriver w/ ~2.1 mm Kawatsuki sponge. Ideal for blocking, hitting, counter drives & pushes. Spin is quite ok. The best thing in my opinion is the excellent durability and the low price.

This is Butterflys best known rubber. It is a very balanced rubber. It has very decent spin, throw, speed, sound, control, etc. etc. The rubber is meant to be speed glued, but with the current glue ban, many players also use it still with just some VOC free glue, and it seems to perform much better than other speed gluing rubbers. This is a great rubber for any loop attack player. It produces great speed and spin, without sacrificing control. The best thing is, its only 30$ at its regular price!

one of the all-time greats, along with the MarkV. fantastic all-rounder and even today, is a great rubber.

I tried a paddle with an old (and I mean old) Butterfly D13-soft, and a modern Sriver. the sponges are different (because the old style was banned I believe), but the play was still exactly the same.

great rubber. it'll never let you down.

Probably the most well-known rubber of the world. It was one of my first rubbers, so I keep good reminds of it. It´s the allround rubber by excellence, but suits also for a controlled offensive style (thicker sponges 2.1 to MAX) and even mixed-(1.9 to 1.3mm).

Another good point is that also works decently without speed glue. It doesn´t stand out in any aspect, but its really well balanced in all senses. It´ pretty durable, and affordable, few rubbers of a proved quality are under the 30$, however I must to recognize that nowadays has been clearly improved by many other rubbers.

Classic rubber from Butterfly, This was the first rubber that i ever used after premades. Medium hard sponge inverted rubber, this rubber can do it all. Loop, smash, block, serve, flip with control. It's not very fast, but it's fast enough that many advance players still use it. When speedglued, it becomes a monster. Most of the ratings I gave this rubber were for unglued Sriver.

This rubber is very durable and can last up to several years with good care. At $30 a piece, this is a great rubber for beginners to intermediate players.

On the Butterfly website you can read that Sriver is a classic rubber with all the gears to play the modern attacking game. They're not lying. This is a Japanese rubber at its finest. Play unglued its fantastic, played glued its even more fantastic. Looking for a good balance of power, spin, control? Sriver is perfect for you. The bigger brother of the Sriver family of EL and FX, the harder sponge will generate a little more power and offer better touch short game. The medium-hard sponge still allows for good glue effect as well. This one's a keeper.

Great rubber to learn with and great rubber to keep playing with. You can glue or choose not to glue, this rubber has all the gears needed for the attacking player.

This is a very good rubber for the looping game. It produces a lot of spin and speed with speed glue but without speed glue it's nothing special. With Sriver using speed glue you can play with power and spin with a good control.
