For intermediate players with a taste for hinoki. Great at drives and smashes, good at loops. Blocking is a breeze, short game good. It goes well with hurricanes and hybrid rubbers. Has that hinoki catapult effect. Usually better to go mid hard or harder sponges with this. It is noticeably head heavy with h3n '39 & rakza z 2.0 attached, 190grams combined blade being 87grams.

With H3NPBS40 and O7CG. 7-ply not equal to 1-ply; the feel and performance are different. Lacks power; ALL+/OFF-, possibly. Should have read reviews here before buying. Still looking for the 1-ply feel of my previous Nittaku 1-ply Jpen from 35 years ago; regretted selling it.

This is one of the best all wood blades out there. Decent speed, very controllable, very good for close and mid distant attacks. Highly recommended!

Coming from Yasaka YEO.

At first, I thought this blade is another "7 ply blade" like DHS P7 or Stiga Clipper, but oh boy, I was wrong, by a large margin. As a player who always use 5 ply hardwood for more than 2 years, this blade offers more control than Yasaka YEO on both feeling and looping; however, this come at the cost of speed with additional spin on powerloop. As a result, this blade is loop monster OFF- blade. I still surprised that it offers almost the same feeling as Yasaka YEO that I don't have to adjust my technique to play it very well. The weight feeling wise is almost identical as YEO despite it is much thicker and heavier. The reason might come from the smaller blade area, so it has less area to put the rubber on.

[Update]
After I tried for almost a year, I would say that this blade does not match with classic rubber and chinese rubber. Those rubbers made this blade feels not have enough power to finish the point. I still like the feeling and control of this blade. So I will give it another try with tensor.

Suitable for players who like hinoki catapult feeling but don't want to have a blade that weighs over 90-95g+ as with most hinoki 1ply (I've played with Speed 90, H-1-9 and Juic Kiso Hinoki) and 3 ply (Dotec Waldner Hinoki). Mine is 82g in ST and feels abit unbalanced head heavy with Rasant Powergrip 2.1 and OmegaIV/V Pro/Asia, Hexer HD or JO Coppa Gold MAX on BH. I believe you need a set up a bit lighter to get to a more optimum balance.
Plays perfect from low to medium-high speed with focus on topspin though does not seem to have the top gear for point ending loop drives, smashes on FH or power punch block, power loop on BH. It just flies out or nets if you put 100% power in. This having tried Powergrip, OmegaIV/V Pro/Asia & JO Coppa Gold on FH and BH which are all hard sponged rubbers which pair well with this soft feeling blade. I would not recommend soft to medium rubbers as the feedback is poor at best unless you are defensive or learning subtleties of offensive game around control/dwell.
In summary overall very nice soft stiff blade with some flex for controlled offensive topspin game, opening loop, counter loop from mid distance 2 steps from table, passive and active block on backhand. It is also a very good blade to develop backhand technique as it is very forgiving with large sweet spot and blocks excellently passive as it is slow when you need it to be slow as per hinoki characteristic.
Negative would be high end gear, smashing and also blocking high spin loops from advanced players (think national top 50 players). The hinoki characteristic seems to spit the ball out further than you like even if compensating for the spin generated - especially does not like typical full motion Chinese FH technique from players who are well trained and know what they are doing. Due to the hinoki characteristic short game is average if heavy spin is involved, though 99% of the time the excellent overall soft feeling will give you the feedback to be able to control.

It is a fantastic blade. Very good for looping. Plays very well close and mid distance. Initially I struggled with control but that was because I had nimbus soft on forehand which i have found is not suitable for this blade. Recently switched to Acuda s1 turbo and control improved drastically. Use medium hard sponge rubbers for this blade and avoid soft ones.

My second CPEN blade which has given me much fun. The control on this blade is unbelievable. I have it setup with 729-08ES for FH and BH.

The workmanship is beautiful and the 7 plys of Hinoki Wood gives excellent control and punches the ball hard enough during attacks!

Seventh Heaven Plies of Pure Hinoki Heaven - exactly just how Nittaku described it!!!

I just can't believe how much CONTROL is dripping in this paddle! It's really confidence & awe inspiring and it let's me take the calculated and risky shots when miliseconds matter the most during intense play.

I thought the Zhang Jike ALC w T80FX had control - buddy let me tell you this blade is all about CONTROL and surgical control for that matter.

Ball placement is awesome! You can make your opponent run from one side of the court/table to the other because of it and it let's you set up your attack for the next shot!

Looping, pushing, flicking, chopping, smashing you name it, it can and will do it! The only thing I wish I did was carefully read and listen to the reviews below and actually paired it with hard to medium hard sponge rubbers.

I like the Nittaku Refoma 2.1 mm that I have on both sides right now but I feel like it could definitely use some help with speed, power and explosiveness especially during serves.

This is why I will be ordering it with the Nittaku Fastarc S-1's here very shortly! Can't wait to get it and I will add an updated review of the blade with rubber combination! Thank you Paddle Palace & my product specialist and advisor David for the awesome suggestions and quick service! Cheers!

A good blade. I use it as a second blade (first beeing Stiga Intensity NCT). Overall, I'm satisfied with this blade (using it with XIOM Sigma I Europe 2.0 mm on both sides), good speed and control, low vibration, with apropriate rubbers can generate good spin. Works well with medium hard rubbers. It's not a top-notch blade but it worths every penny you pay for it and you can play quite high level table tennis with this "popular" blade!

Nice blade, spin and control are good; faster of Violin, works better in the block and in the smash. Overall really positive

Very soft blade with some vibrations. Much softer than most 7ply blades.

This is an excellent choice for those looking for an all wood all+/off- hinoki blade. It carries all the great characteristics of other all wood hinoki blades such as high control, dwell time and fast smashes. For me this blade excels in looping and drop shots. But also serves, pushes and blocks well.
As the previous reviewer noted; this blade does not pair well with soft rubbers. I use Tenergy05 fh and was using Nimbus Sound at first, but the soft Tibhar rubber made the setup unpredictable. I quickly upgraded to Tibhar Sinus with much better results. And because this blade is made of soft wood, it dents pretty easily, but thats to be expected from any hinoki blade.

Nice 7-ply hinoki wood blade with soft feel and high dwell.

If you're after an ALL+ all-wood blade, you can't go far wrong here. Pairing with very soft rubbers could result in a very mushy combination, so perhaps best to stick with medium-hard sponges.

Handle is very thin when compared with most other manufacturers, but I found it very comfortable and easy to use.
