I am not professional player but participated in a few lower level tournaments. Shriver is a training rubber not for pro players. I recommended it for beginners or a developing defenders. Blocking chopping works well however for attacking it has no power, counter looping is okay. 25 years earlier for wood blades it was an excellent choice. Today it's not enough.

Used it for circa 4 years (with some pauses) without changing it and it still felt like it was just slightly used. I bought the rubber again but after my play improved the rubber started to feel a little bit slow. Control is perfect, it goes where you want it to go. Spin is a bit lackluster but fairly managable. There are a lot of better rubbers for less money than this but I would definitely recommend it to an amateur-intermediate player in all aspects.
Good control rubber, but still too slow. I think it is ideal for backhand if boosted.
I played this rubber on my backhand when I was just starting out. I am pretty sure this rubber is meant to be boosted, but those days are gone now. It has good control, but is just much too slow without any additional tuning. If you aren't planning to tune this rubber yourself, just get a modern tensor rubber (tenergy, omega, acuda, mx, etc.) It is still a good rubber for beginners, but if you are going to invest in a new setup for yourself, you might as well get something better.
One of the best my backhand rubber in speed glue era... U can improve your strokes with this rubber... LEGEND rubber...
Great all around rubber. Perfect for an all around control game or beginner. To me it seems slightly slower than regular Sriver but with a bit more spin and bite to it.
Overall very happy with this rubber. I chose the 1.9mm, which I've been using for 2 mos. as my only rubber on my 1st jpen paddle. It's a definite improvement over the rubber on my old premade Stiga paddle--great spin and lots of control for a beginner. My only complaint is the rubber seems fragile/easier to damage than I had expected. Otherwise very happy with it.
After many good review for the legendary sriver, have to get my self one just to test how good it is. This rubber have above average spin. It is not a tensor rubber thus you need to generate all the speed and spin your self. As it is not too fast, you can generate shot with lot of spin. The ball will kick when it land to the other side of the table. Great for serve and serve receiving.
this was my first rubber i ever tried and its great for starting players who like to have a lot of control but still be able to spin
Not one person has said what makes this rubber different from all the others, its the unique ball curve when looping. You only have to look at the amount of reviews to see how popular this rubber is. Anyone who is starting out in table tennis and wanting to be an attacking player should start with this rubber in 1.9. When I used to glue up it was absolutely the best rubber ever made. 2.1 EL blocks, loops against a push, and counter very very well. My second choice would be Tenergy 05 in 1.9, more spin and speed but less control when counter looping.
Very good rubber the first 3 months.
good spin, speed and control.
Great for push and placements.
Descent serves.
Great backhand shots.
Not too fast.
After 3 months it turns really badly.
The grip is totally gone. Makes the rubber too bouncy due to the great elasticity.
The ball flies over the table and into the net.
That was 6 years ago. I did only practice 2 hours a week.
Not very durable.
Most chinese rubbers lasts longer.
Used in 2.1 on Donic Persson Powerplay.

a very nice butterfly rubber that is good on backhand. I recommend this for defensive player if you ever use it on fore hand, but if you use it on backhand it can play as all around rubber... very nice!
I have used this only for BH, and it has served me well. Good for jabbing top spins and also very good for back hand loops. It is a bit slower when smashing, but that can be compensated with a fast blade. Overall I love this rubber on my BH!!
Good at slow topspins and blocking. Not good for loop drives and smashing. Better with a faster blade or a beginner learning the strokes.
This is one of the greates rubbers on the history. U can chop loop lob block push and all easily its just that is a bit slow but u can get a faster blade and thats all
It has good spin and speed while control is amazing.I use Samsonov Carbon Tibhar and I use El for my FH and Nimus sound for BH.I really like it.You can generate lots of spin with El while blocking and control is on positive side.
Great rubber I have been using it for half a year and it is still a weapon :-) versatile to put it mildly.
Easy blocks, flips and nice pushes.
Threatening attacks close to the table but a bit weak beyond mid distance.
Cool rubber to start with at a reasonable price.

Sriver EL is the "elastic" medium-sponge variant of the Butterfly Sriver family. This rubber is medium-hard and moderate in speed. I would rate it as the best out of the Sriver series for having more power if you swing harder than Sriver FX, and more versatile in its capabilities than the regular Sriver-L. In other words, it is the ultimate all-around rubber. The EL is an excellent choice for beginning to intermediate players, and will suit anyone looking for a classic rubber. The topsheet has a good amount of grip, yet has a high amount of control. It excels in the short game, as well as in the counterhit and blocking department. Looping is also do-able, although in this non speed-glue era, there are countless tensor, tuned, and spring sponge rubbers out there that outperform Sriver EL in this area. I would recommend this rubber for anyone!
looking for a classic, controllable rubber that can enhance and develop your game. However, if you are looking for a fast, tacky, or speed-glue replacement rubber. I advise you to look elsewhere because there are cheaper and more suitable alternatives in today's equipment market.

GOOD rubber very nice on the BACKHAND!!!! and on THE FOREHAND!!!!! Can take a time to adjust cuz of it's MEDIUM-HIGH-THROW!!! ITS LIGHT AND DURABLE and has A VERY GLOSSY TOPSHEET!!!!!!!! GREAT FOR SERVES...Very SPINNY!!!!! LOOP needs a much more grazing style need to adjust to POWER LOOPS and LOOP DRIVES!!!! VERY CONTROLLABLE on EVERYTHING else VERY GOOD RUBBER!!!!!
Just like Sriver but 5% softer. Offers a bit more control, ideal for backhand. Also excellent for speedglue.
A classic with a softer sponge than the original Sriver that everyone can play with from beginner to professional. Very durable. Today there is lots of faster alternatives. But this is a real do-it-all rubber. Fantastic!
a little slow. because it's old rubber compared with new butterfly rubbers. but for the price this rubber offers good quality than others of 60$.
It is a classic rubber with good feel, good control and medium speed. Excellent for speed gluing. After the banding of speed glue, it can still be the best all-round rubber in butterfly.
Sriver EL seems to be a very controllable rubber. I would dare say that it plays like a slightly slower version of the original Sriver. Sriver on the FH and Sriver EL on the BH can make for a good setup for beginner and intermediate players.
Positive about this rubber:
-durable rubber even i can use it for more than 2 years.
-spin got little side
-well speed
-nice for blocking
-great for backhand looping.
Downside:
-need skill to smack/smash
-need to adjust angle when blocking looping ball otherwise it might pop up out of table...or maybe my skill not the rubber.
Overall very good & worth rubber to try. I loved this rubber & give rate 9/10.

I'm new with this rubber. Before this i use dawei and tibhar rubber. This rubber is good for control and have very big spin. The sponge hardness is meduim so that i able to have wrist spin under the air when attacking. Good but when far from table it give slowing the power yet the opponent can read the ball. But i still learning use this rubber.
Sriver EL is a very good backhand rubber that offers control, speed and power with medium spin. It also blocks cleanly. Similar to Sriver, effort and proper techniques are required to unleash its potential. When its unleashed, it offers you decisiveness and power in your backhand attacks!
This was a review I wrote before the speed glue ban.
Sriver EL has something that very few other rubbers can match. Every top brand has a classic rubber in their range that remains the most popular amongst players no matter what other products they produce; Butterfly's is the Sriver series.
I started using Sriver EL seven years ago but went away from it to try other rubbers, now I'm back on the Sriver EL. This rubber lets me play the shots I want to play unlike other rubbers

For the first time, a table tennis company correctly advertised a rubber! It is truly a compromise between Sriver L's and FX's sponge. The result is a spinny, control, speed glue weapon.
As with most, Srivers, EL isn't the best at everything but is good at a lot of things.
Possessing the Sriver top sheet, its spin is generally good. During the days where speed gluing were allowed, this rubber was like my best friend. It was perfect for my backhand. It had an elastic sponge meaning looping, smashing and serving were never difficult and with speed glue, this rubber was simply beastly.
After the glue ban, EL was never quite the same. While I could play my regular tactics in game, I felt it was too slow. I went on to look for substitutes but none were quite the same. At the moment I'm using Sriver G2 FX, opting G3 provided I can have a hit with it before buying it. I felt it was slow even on a fast blade.
Sriver EL makes a reliable companion to many beginning players and even intermediate players provided you can play around the mediocre speed. EL is also a forgiving rubber and tolerant of different strokes and playing styles.
As mentioned, EL isn't fast so if you have an overly aggressive or simply an offensively oriented style, this rubber is not for you. On the other hand, if you like to take things slow, play defensively most of the time, or are looking for a versatile beginners rubber, this rubber is for you. Butterfly seriously needs to consider a tensor version of this. It would sell so well!

Speed is the main problem of this blade now with the speed glue ban. I do not know how everybody will be reading the reviews (better to see the date of the review) because this was a great rubber for control, with reasonable spin and speed. With the water based glue, it is a dead rubber... I hope Butterfly High Tune sponge come to this rubber soon and hopefully it will be a useful rubber again.
Great rubber for BH, easy to block, flip and push. Great for attacking as well. It seems a bit hard when pressing down on the rubber, but when playing it feels medium/soft. This rubber offers alot of control, great for beginners/intermediate players. Very linear rubber (does what you put into it).
I really like this rubber because it gives me the control and looping ability I need to play very consistently. Sure it is not as fast as other rubbers but what it lacks in speed it makes up for with control and placement. The speed however will vary based upon how hard the ball is hit. Make no mistake it can produce winners. I like this for both backhand and forehand, however I use it on forehand and regular Sriver on backhand because of the lower throw. The grip of Sriver El produces very good spin. This rubber can do it all.
This is a great rubber. I use it on my BH and it is just great. I can hit it as hard as i want and it will almost always end up on the table. My only problem is that it doesnt have the little bumps on the bottom of the rubber where i like to put my right index finger. That doesn't actually affect my performance, its just something i like, thus the near perfect rating.
Excellent All round rubber, I have it 2.1mm RED, and it can even spell the alphabet :P
There is nothing this rubber cant do, even though its not the fastest nor the spiniest.
Every person should start with a rubber like this or similar :P

I tried the T05 before i played with this rubber. It is much slower, about as much as i had expected. I had expected to be able to have a more consistant BH though in comparison to the tenergy. However what i have noticed, was, that the T05 was an incredible rubber for the BH. Every shot i hit whether it was a touch shot, flips etc.. or looping over the table, would land on the court. i really had to open up my stroke when playing with this rubber, butit is starting to work for me. And, I am learning to play with more control. This is a great rubber to play with when starting out, without glue. as per glue ban ofcourse.
Best backhand rubber. Great control with good speed and spin for controlled attacking. Serves are also spiny and travel low over the net. Best all-around rubber you could ask for. Drives, loops, and blocks extremely well. Allows you to put the ball anywhere on the table with accuracy.
The sriver EL is a part of the sriver family of rubber by butterfly. Take note that this sriver does need zpeed glue or booster or some other kind of speed enhancer. The sriver EL is not as fast as teh sriver FX and some of the other sriver rubbers. in general, i would say it is the slowest out of the sriver family. But compared to others, it is not slow at all. It still a very good attacking and offensive rubber. I think it is a pretty good backhand rubber, because the control is very good for blocking and counterlooping, but all in all good for controlling the game. It is relatively cheap too.
A perfect choice if you are still developping your shots, but also a fine choice as an intermediate player. The sponge takes the glue very well, including the water based ones.
There are faster rubbers and spinnier rubbers, but this one combines them both quite well.
All in all a very safe choice when you're looking for a rubber which can do everything.

This rubber is a great consistent rubber that I would recommend for anybody who is an offensive minus player. It doesn't have too much spin or speed - just an even amount of both. It's not very fast and spinny, but you will not miss often on smashes. Many of your shots, though, may become very smashable to your opponents since they lack a lot of spin or speed. I recommend speed gluing this rubber.
Great rubber for allmost any style of offensive play. It is a great compromise between Sriver and Sriver FX.
The butterfly sriver el is another great rubber in the sriver series.
It has good speed and enough control,It has a great feeling and control when playing touch shots,Blocking is very good with this rubber to. over the table spin is okay but not to much.Hitting is very good but may lack some speed. This rubber would fit a backhand best i think but it could also be used on the forehand, its a pretty alround rubber from butterfly just like most of the sriver family.

Sriver-el is an exceptional rubber. The superior control and spin should be perfect for intermediate players. Combined with Bryce a lethal bat is created. Sriver-el should preferably be used on the backhand
The last sriver classic rubber, and most balanced of the three regular srivers. Affordable price, fine durability, high speed glue effect, decent control.... I used it several years on my backhand with speed glue, it´s works much better glued.
The middle child of the Sriver family, you will see a good speed glue effect a la Sriver FX yet still retains some of the power of the big brother Sriver. Good for both players who don't glue and players who do reglue. Slight difference in speed and sound when glued, but not as different as the FX is when it is glued or unglued. Not as powerful as Sriver but I would say a tad bit more control but with good amount of speed in it. Very popular backhand rubber.
Sriver's little brother EL has better speed gluing properties than Sriver but sacrifices a bit of speed but a little better control farther from the table. Short game touch is not as nice as Sriver because of the springer sponge. Great backhand rubber.
This is a fabulous rubber - it can do anything. I highly recommend for technical players and those that want a rubber that can do everything - block, smash, spin. The last rubber you'll ever buy.
Outstanding rubber for the price. Great for beginners in 1.9 mm without glue, and good even for advanced players in thicher sponges with glue. Loops, hits, blocks, and pushes well. One of the most versatile rubbers I've used.
I love these rubbers. I'd probably recommend them to any level of player. The ELs are very versatile, they can pretty much do everything. They're strong points are control and looping. It's good for different styles. My only beef is if you're not gluing then there are probably slightly better rubbers for your forehand. This one is just a tad slow. Still usable though, and great for backhand unglued.
A very good rubber when glued. Very good for backhand looping. Depending on the blade, it also has above average control. A far better backhand rubber than forehand. I would say this is one of the most consistant rubbers about. Good spin for BH serves. Doesn't have the power of some rubbers, but is still fairly quick.
