I dont agree with the people who say this is a blade with flex and very soft. The blade is slow, stiff and naturally not too soft. Its designed to block near to the table with long pips and antispin and also for the defence far away from the table. Its very good with ox pips, you can play very precise and at the right moment you can attack well. Very good blade and good price!

I have an unorthodox style of play - close to the table hitter and blocker who uses LPs and twiddles. The Barricade is a tremendous asset for this type of game! It is the slowest blade I have ever used but that is a good thing, bc it allows me to drop balls really short over the net with my long pips, and I can smack balls with any inverted rubber and they will land and be plenty fast, thanks to the catapult effect of the balsa core. SUPERB CONTROL. The huge blade face (164mm x 163mm) is an asset for chop blocking, and the amazingly light weight (my blade is 51g) keeps the blade light in spite of the extra rubber, as my setups with inverted & OX LPs are usually 117 to 130g. Tibhar Hybrid K-1 in Max, Tibhar MX-S 1.7, and DHS G666 have all paired excellently with the BC. Good LPs have included Saviga V OX and Qing in OX and 0.5; I plan to tame D.TecS 0.5 on it next!
This lightweight setup makes twiddling effortless and provides extra agility. I like the feel of my Defplay slightly more, however reducing my blade weight by 30g has been worth the trade off! FWIW, I do not chop, and I am a beginner-intermediate player. Highly recommended!

This is an excellent defensive blade. The blade is large to allow covering more area when defending away from the table. The blade is very light, which is great to counterbalance heavy offensive rubber. Just keep in mind that because the head is large you will need more rubber, which will make the racket heavier. If your racket is heavy then it is harder to accelerate it, which means more effort is needed to achieve the same spin. If you think the blade is too big then you can resize it by sanding off a few millimeters to your desired size. This will make the blade even lighter. This blade pairs well with hurricane to allow aggressive attack from at least one side, which is necessary for the modern game. The blade flexes a lot, which combined with hurricane's tackiness provides you a lot of dwell time to slow down and direct the ball. Despite being able to attack, you need to be comfortable playing a defensive game. You will not be winning with power alone because it requires a lot of effort, which is exhausting. For the backhand you can use slower defensive rubber: either inverted or pips. For offensive pips there are better blades out there as this blade has too much flex. For fun you can put hurricane on both sides if you want to have an amazing workout.

Superb control with LP in OX, massive spin with inverted rubber (I used Baracuda)

Im a close to the table blocker. A tactical player who uses SP on FH and inverted on backhand. Sometimes i switch them for serve variation or 3rd ball attacking underspin. THIS IS THE BEST BLADE IVE EVER OWNED. It solves every problem ive ever had......First off its oversized so i cut off extra head size to make it a normal size and then i sanded it. I always struggled with any setup over 140 grams (which for most people is already light). I use a 2 finger shakehand grip and have to adjust when i switch to backhand. With this blade and Desto F3 with spectol i have made a blade thats 117 grams....a perfect speed for close to table blocking and countering. Blade isnt very flexy but with soft rubbers my backhand flicks always land. There not as dynamic as with a blade like Walder Senso but they land.....ANY close to table Blocker should be using this blade.....its still more than fast enough and the reduction in weight will make your transition from FH to BH twice as fast. Cork handle is awesome....very light....and after using Waldner Senso....Nexy CAlix 2....Yinhe t 11....Palio Cat.....Waldner Ultra....Donic Feat nothing compared to this for lightness and control. and Yes you can hit off the table with it too..........in a sport where there arent enough blades in the 50 gram weight class this blade is KINg!

I love this blade but it is very delicate and I usually replace it once a year. If you hit the table or your friends or kids mishandle it even slightly the blade can crack. I have 3 blades that each have the outer layer peeled open. Perhaps crazy glue can help but I'd like it to be more durable. It is unique though because it's the lightest and largest blade I've seen. This gives you a better chance of getting your blade on the ball. I use this blade with Tenergy 05 on both sides. I'm considering Dr. Neubauer's high tech special with the hope it's more durable. It seems to be heavier by 10 grams and has more thickness. My Barricades are all about 57 grams. I'm also interested in the Butterfly Liu ShiWen given it's softness and speed. I fear that the 86 grams will be too much though. I love tabletennisdb!

The best defensive blade ever for someone who loves high flex and balsa feeling.

Very light, the softest feeling ever seen, huge control... Definitely an amazing creation from The Doc! Of course, Barricade shines at chopping but it is an excellent blade for blocking and it has enough power to counter-attack or kill any point.

I do not suffer any lack of power while attacking; that's why Barricade Def is the best blade for modern defense to me...

I use to play with Vega Pro (1,8mm) on forehand and LP on backhand.

Underspin seem to be increased by blade conception: pushes and chops are amazingly hard to loop. A tactical weapon, made for defensive players who like soft and high flex baldes with max control and very good offensive power.

AWESOME

I am a modern defender, and contrary to what most people say, this blade is effective far away from the table. You just need rubbers with a high throw angle. And you dont have to worry about weighing it down with thick, heavy rubbers since its very light. My setup uses H3(2.2mm) and TSP Curl p-1(1.3mm). I can chop with so much control and attack with speed thanks to the H3. The only bad thing about the blade is its durability. You can easily dent the sides with you nails. Nevertheless, great blade for a modern defender imo.

They might position this as a chopping blade for marketing purposes, but it's a blocker's blade all the way. Spectacularly good control with pips and inverted.

This is the slowest and softest blade I have ever used. I eventually traded it. It may work for a totally passive close the the table blocking game, but I don't think any rubber you put on it could hit an outright winner against anyone rated 1500 USATT. Expensive, but nice workmanship. Modern defenders should not waste their time or money on this one.
