yea, ive taken both micro and macro economics. your point is valid, but still, look at examples. 1. ipod. people were shelling out 300+ dollars for something a. that was super small and b. that had very limited function. especially when compared to competition, who had all these gadgets and things that could be used, the apple had this "cool" factor. design will do that, and economics cant paint that picture, beyond profit increase due to design. if you would like to talk about economics, design is the best way to improve a company, because if a product you are trying to sell is more appealing to the market or target market, bingo, you will sell more, and subsequently make more money. i wonder if you have ever taken any design courses, or you would understand my point, and the value of not only design, but good design. |
