Reviews of Nittaku Fastarc G-1 (102)

Switched to this from chinese rubbers, and the switch was very seamless. Its just a solid rubber that does everything well. Good spin, good speed. A bit hard to control in the short game, and quite difficult to chop with, but its really easy to get the ball on the table on the attacking strokes. Similar to Rakza 7, but I believe rakza's topsheet is a bit softer, thus more bouncy on a light stroke, whereas with the G1 you need to be a bit more active. Top end spin as well as speed seems to be faster. It's got what I call linear catapult - its really easy to predict how the ball with behave. Ive got a clear comparison to the Rakza XX, which is the next generation of rubbers, and here if you swing too passively the ball just dies, which is great for the short game, but sometimes under pressure makes it difficult to get a consistent loop on the table. The G1 however always delivers the catapult effect just as you'd expect it.

I have been playing table tennis for 54 years. At my best I was rated USATT 1900 double winged looper but relying more on finesse than going through people. Over the last 54 years I have tested a lot of equipment. There is a good reason why this rubber is the best selling rubber in Asia and one of the top selling rubbers. For those technically proficient enough to harness all the formidable capabilities of this rubber, it does not leave much to be desired. If your strokes are technically sound and you are well trained and coached understanding your own unique style of table tennis then adjusting to this rubber is very easy. It is a very balanced rubber in terms of speed, spin and control. Compared to other high-end rubbers, I think it offers a very good value proposition at its price point. There comes a point in a table tennis players life when they can adjust to pretty much any equipment. At that point it simply becomes a question of value and training. I don't see and I could not find any weak points of this rubber. If it is too fast or if the throw is too high or too long or if it is very spin, sensitive, etc. It is not the rubber. It is the table tennis player. Get training. Take lessons. Get educated and don't blame the equipment. This rubber plays a lot better than I am capable of playing. If I can get 50% of its capabilities out of it then I am happy.

One of the best rubbers for beginners and/or intermediate players. I had it on both sides of Yasaka Sweden Extra when I started playing again after 20 years' break. Great control, speed and decent spin even with Sweden Extra. I have since moved on with blades and rubbers but if I had to start again, G-1 would be my choice. This is the universal rubber. Not sensitive to incoming spin. Most of the people say that take C-1 or S-1 on BH but I would rather use this on both sides.

Initially set up as a replacement for my defensive set on a def old blade. First time use just could not control. So, then I put it on my nittaku combi blade. Third use and it's come alive. Brilliant spin touch feel with oodles of power. Love it
