Netherlands to Host 2011 World Championships

On Wednesday 27th February, the Annual General Meeting of the ITTF was held at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Center. The Dutch city of Rotterdam was the only remaining application city after Qatar withdrew its candidature recently and supported the bid of the Netherlands Table Tennis Association.
Singles and Doubles in 2011
The event will take place in the Ahoy Sport and Events Centre and will host the individual events, which means the Men’s and Women’s Singles and Doubles events as well as the Mixed event. ITTF President Mr. Adham Sharara underlines that the bid provides “excellent conditions for the participants”.
ITTF Executive Committee Grows
Another result of the AGM is that the Executive Committee of the International Table Tennis Federation, the governing body of the federation, will become two new members in 2009. On the occasion of the AGM 2009 during the World Championships in Yokohama, Japan, the member associations will have to elect nine EC members instead of only seven up to now.
